the long road



all I want is a car, a CD, a camera and a long road leading to somewhere,
where i can shap-shot the scenes and piece them together
in the album on my coffee table at home
with a glass of tea and William Fitzsimmons in the background, 
kneeling and placing the pieces of this journey,
of this life together... 
not alone, but comfortable.
searching but confident
thinking but not doubting,
wondering but not knowing...

with the boxes still packed, and the messages stacked high
on the machine...
just being

river wild.

This photo is the background of my computer at work. It reminds me to focus on not getting caught up in the craziness of the week. That this in-grained desire for something bigger is normal. That we were not made for this world, but while we are here we must not miss the good parts.  River Wild.  There is a peace in the woods, in the dark of the trees. In the rain and under the branches. I hear whispers of wind and cheers of wildlife. I hear Hillsong music and the light rain covering the deep. The streams a-flowin and the rush of the wide-open scapes.
