chaos is already underway

"So, kid, you’ve got to live, and not just that stoic existence you’ve  been stomping trough all this time. You’ve got to be kind, you’ve got to fall in love, fall out of love, no matter how much it hurts because my god, it’s worth it.  Don’t let the world turn you to stone; you’ve got to feel. And sometimes, your heart will threaten  to march right out of your chest  because you’re so fucking full of it all- of the people,  the places, the endless days, the eternal nights- and kid, that’s fine. Be brave. Courage isn’t measured by the number of people you’ve turned away or by the counts of the nights you’ve spent alone because you refuse to  give someone the chance to love you.  Being alone is not poetic; you’ve got to let them in. Let them peel back your skin and waltz into your bloodstream and love them, love them, love them. And finally, kid, your life has already begun. ...

just hold on, we're going home

In the depths of the northwest winter, one question, and one answer changed the course of my life. how can one simple moment, change the way you completely feel about one person? for the better. for the goodness. he popped the question. I accepted. 2014 begins with a bang.  one thing I can add to my list: get married. settle down. I might be committing, but our adventure is truly beginning. to a new chapter, of love, life and adventure. Now I have a companion the whole way through.

twenty-fourteen

Every year - we say it.... THIS YEAR WILL BE THE YEAR. This will be the year I get on that bike, the year I lose that weight, the year I find that gal/fella, the year I start LIVING. And every year, for most, we don't do anything. I mean, don't get me wrong. I am right there too. The first week (or two) are the determined, motivated and STRONG weeks. WE CAN DO THIS. And then the daily grind, the demands and the cold (especially) - takes hold and we go back. And by September, we say " Next year... next year I will live..." THIS IS MY CHALLENGE. Make it. Make it more than those 2 weeks. Make it more - Make this a change for the better. For your LIFE. For the past couple of weeks, I have been seeing signs in my life that I need to make a change. I have lost the adventure - the chase of this life. I am living, but not as much as I can be. We got one life, and I don't want to look back and say... I saw a lot of great movies on Netflix, I had a really clean...

losing

"I am losing precious days. I am degenerating into a machine for making money. I am learning nothing in this trivial world of men. I must break away and get out into the mountains to learn the news." -   John Muir

wild days, I will find you

there are times when I think I am still SO young... I'll get this want deep within me to paint my nails black, ditch work and just drive. I get this want to just let it all go, have no responsibilities, and just run. Make mistakes, fall in love again and again, photograph anything and everything, dance on table tops, drink to much, stay up late to watch the stars and just live. I'll be driving home from work, thinking... lets just go! I have a full tank of gas, I can get new clothes, bills are paid for the month.. lets just go wild for a week. Hike and move, laugh and cry and be happy. but I always bounce back, look at the clock and say "oh man... its 8:30PM... I should start getting ready for bed." HOW BORING. I tattooed myself a few months ago - wanting something to remind me of how far I have come and how much God has been my influence in my life. I also got it to just FEEL something. Anything. In the moment of getting the tattoo, I felt young, alive and ...

shook me to the core

i found this the other day... shook me to the core. it opened everything within me that desired to run, to learn, breathe and be free of the ties of this life. made me want to let it go, go on a limb, sacrifice, and just live.  maybe i will.... "I’d like to repeat the advice that I gave you before, in that I think you really should make a radical change in your lifestyle and begin to boldly do things which you may previously never have thought of doing, or been too hesitant to attempt. So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and h...
